Jaigad Fort – Ratnagiri
Description :
Jaigad Fort, perched dramatically on a cliff at the mouth of the Shastri River, is a 16th-century coastal fortress built by the Bijapur Sultanate. Spread over 13 acres, it features massive stone walls, bastions, and ancient water reservoirs. Once under the control of Maratha naval commander Kanhoji Angre, it later fell to the British in 1818. Today, visitors can explore the fort’s ruins, Ganpati temple, and enjoy stunning panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and Jaigad Lighthouse.
